Why this is the answer
On September 11, 2001, terrorists attacked the United States. They hijacked four airplanes: two were flown into the World Trade Center in New York City, one into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia, and the fourth, believed to be aimed at Washington, D.C., crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after the passengers fought the hijackers. Almost 3,000 people died, and it was the worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor.
