These terms describe what CivicsWise is for and what you agree to by using it. They are written in plain language on purpose.

What this site is

CivicsWise is a free study tool for the civics test of the U.S. naturalization interview. It reproduces the official USCIS civics questions and answers and adds explanations written by us. There is no account to create and nothing to pay.

The test itself is administered by USCIS. Which questions you are asked and what counts as a correct answer are decided by USCIS, and some official answers change with elections and appointments; the current ones are on the USCIS test updates page. If anything on this site differs from uscis.gov, the USCIS version applies.

Who owns what

The official civics questions and answers are works of the U.S. federal government and are in the public domain. We claim no rights over them.

The explanations, the wording of every other page, the design and the code of this site are our own work and are protected by copyright. You may use them for your own study: read them, print them, share links to them. You may not copy the explanations to republish them elsewhere, in whole or in part, or collect them automatically. For any other use, ask us first.

Acceptable use

Use the site as a person studying would. Do not try to interfere with it, overload it, access it with automated tools at volume, or present it as something it is not.

Advertising and third parties

The site is supported by advertising served by Google. We do not choose individual ads and do not endorse the advertisers. We also link to other websites, mainly USCIS and the Department of Justice, and we are not responsible for their content or their availability. The privacy policy explains what advertising means for your data.

No warranties, limited liability

The site is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not warrant that it will be available without interruption, that it is free of errors, or that practicing here will lead to any particular result in your naturalization process. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or from relying on its content. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms. Changes are posted on this page with the date below, and using the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
