Why this is the answer
There are more than 500 American Indian tribes in the United States today, each with its own social and political system, and the official list names many of them as accepted answers: the Cherokee, Navajo, Sioux, Apache, Choctaw, Seminole, Hopi and Pueblo among them. Several on the list, the Cherokee, Seminole and Choctaw, were among the five nations forced west from the southern United States on the Trail of Tears between the 1830s and 1850s. The complete list of tribes is published at bia.gov. Name any one. Memory hook: pick two or three names you know well and keep them ready.
