Why this is the answer
The Revolutionary War ran from 1775 to 1783. The fighting began in Massachusetts in 1775; the Battle of Bunker Hill is the first name on the official list. In 1776 came the Declaration of Independence. George Washington's crossing of the Delaware River led to the Battle of Trenton; the Battle of Saratoga and the encampment at Valley Forge are the other names on the official list. The last major battle was Yorktown, in Virginia, in 1781, where the British army surrendered. Name any one. Memory hook: it starts near Boston and ends at Yorktown.
