Why this is the answer
On December 7, 1941, Japan attacked the U.S. naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The next day President Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war, and Congress did. Japan's partners, Germany and Italy, then declared war on the United States. So the United States entered World War II because of Pearl Harbor, and it fought with the Allied Powers, Britain, France and the Soviet Union, against the Axis Powers, Germany, Italy and Japan.
